Where we work
Southern Sydney

IT, phones and AI for
Sutherland Shire business.

The Shire runs from the industrial and commercial strip at Taren Point through the professional practices of Caringbah, the retail centre at Miranda and the civic and transport hub at Sutherland. Very little of it looks like a CBD tower, and most of it is small to mid-sized business.

Our office is at 55 Flinders Road, Cronulla, at the southern end of the Shire.

The work here

Metcom has been based in the Sutherland Shire for a long time, and the office is at Cronulla rather than in a Sydney tower with a Shire phone number attached. That matters less for the work itself, most of which is delivered remotely, and more for the jobs where somebody has to physically be there: the cabling, the cutover, the fault that will not resolve over a remote session.

What a Shire business needs is rarely one product. It is usually the helpdesk, the connection into the building, the phone system and, increasingly, some automation over the top, supplied by people who will not blame each other when something breaks. That is the whole reason Metcom covers all four rather than specialising in one.

We work with businesses across Australia, and being in the Shire does not make this a local-only operation. It does mean that if you are here, on-site attendance is uncomplicated.

Across the Shire

Woolooware

2230

Woolooware sits between Cronulla and Taren Point, and shares a postcode with our own office. The bay frontage it backs onto is the same one the Taren Point commercial area runs down to, so the connectivity and multi-building questions there tend to look alike.

Kirrawee

2232

Kirrawee shares its postcode with Sutherland and sits next to it on the rail line. Businesses here are close enough to the Sutherland town centre to face the same mix of office, professional and service work, and close enough to our office for on-site attendance to be straightforward.

Gymea

2227

Gymea has its own village strip of small businesses and professional practices rather than a large commercial centre. Small sites like these are usually the ones being asked to run modern systems on whatever was installed years ago, which is generally where we start.

Como

2226

Como sits at the northern edge of the Shire on the Georges River, closer to the St George side than to Cronulla. Businesses here often work across both areas, which makes multi-site phone systems and remote access more relevant than they would be for a single-shopfront operator.

Local office, national company

We work with businesses
right across Australia.

Being close to Sutherland Shire means on-site attendance is simple when a job needs it. It is not the limit of who we work with. Most of what we do is delivered remotely to customers around the country, and we attend site across greater Sydney, Newcastle, Wollongong and the Blue Mountains, plus Brisbane and the Sunshine Coast.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Metcom is a Sutherland Shire based technology company with its office at 55 Flinders Road, Cronulla. We provide managed IT and security, business phone systems, business connectivity, and AI consulting and automation to businesses across the Shire, and to businesses around Australia.
All of them. We have pages covering Taren Point, Caringbah, Miranda and Sutherland in more detail, and we work with businesses in Woolooware, Kirrawee, Gymea, Como and the rest of the Shire on the same basis. We also work in the neighbouring St George suburbs including Blakehurst and Sans Souci.
Both. Most managed IT, phone system and automation work is delivered remotely because that is faster for everyone. Cabling, hardware, cutovers and faults that will not resolve remotely need somebody on site, and we attend across the Shire, greater Sydney, Newcastle, Wollongong and the Blue Mountains, plus Brisbane and the Sunshine Coast through our Queensland staff.
No. Metcom works with businesses Australia-wide, and a large part of what we do is delivered remotely to customers nowhere near the Shire. The Shire is where the office is and where on-site attendance is simplest, not the limit of who we work with.
Yes, and it is a common way to start. We document what is actually running before anything changes, so the handover does not depend on the outgoing provider being helpful about it.
Mostly small and mid-sized businesses, which is what the Shire is largely made up of. That includes single-site operators with a handful of staff and multi-site businesses running several locations, along with MSPs and telcos who resell our platforms under their own brand.
